Luthier Lineu Bravo built for the Algerian musician Karim Tariket a ‘mandole’, also known as ‘Algerian bandola’, with Canadian cedar top, Indian Jacaranda Back and ebony elevated fingerboard.

Karim reported how he got to know about Lineu’s job: “I brought to Brazil a ‘mandole’ from Algeria, however there was a problem with the fretboard. Then I started looking for a luthier on the internet and I found Lineu’s number. So I called him! Ever since he told me he didn’t do maintenance, I asked him if he could do a new one for me. I sent him pictures of my ‘mandole’. Lineu said he could and he did! I’ve seen some videos of him on Youtube and I really liked it.” The Algerian musician talked a little bit about his instrument: ‘The ‘mandole’ is a traditional instrument in Algeria. It has been widely used to play ‘chaabi’, the Popular Music from Algeria. Nowadays it is also used to play a lot of music genres.”

Karim used to play chaabi in the beginning of his career: “I’ve already played a mix of music genres in a group. Nowadays I am preparing a new album with my friend Rangel Cruz.”
